Quick answer
Most Leafs games air on Sportsnet or TSN: regional games have been split between Sportsnet Ontario and TSN4, and national games run on Sportsnet's national channels. Saturday games are usually part of Hockey Night in Canada on CBC, Sportsnet and Citytv, and some Monday games have streamed on Prime Video. The Leafs' official schedule on NHL.com lists the broadcaster for every game.
Why the Leafs channel changes from game to game
NHL broadcasting in Canada works on two layers. National rights belong to Rogers, which airs those games on Sportsnet, on Citytv and, on Saturday nights, on CBC through Hockey Night in Canada. Rogers renewed that national deal in 2023 for another 12 seasons starting in 2026-27, so this layer is stable for years.
Regional rights are sold team by team and only cover the team's home broadcast territory. For the Leafs, regional games have for years been split between Sportsnet Ontario and TSN4, a legacy of Rogers and Bell co-owning the team. Rogers became the majority owner of MLSE in 2025, so it is worth checking each new season's split rather than assuming last year's pattern.
The result: on any given night the game can be on a regional Sportsnet feed, TSN4, a national Sportsnet channel, CBC or a streaming service. The only reliable way to know is to check that specific game.
Where each kind of Leafs game usually airs
| Game type | Where it usually airs | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Regional games (most of the schedule) | Sportsnet Ontario or TSN4 | Blacked out on those feeds outside the Leafs' broadcast region |
| Saturday night | Hockey Night in Canada: CBC, Sportsnet, Citytv | National, so no regional blackout; also streams on CBC Gem |
| Midweek national games | Sportsnet's national channels | Shown across the country |
| Selected Monday nights | Prime Video | A Monday-night national package has streamed on Prime Video in recent seasons |
| French-language national games | TVA Sports | Has carried French national NHL games in recent seasons |
| Playoffs | Sportsnet and CBC (English) | In recent seasons every playoff game has been national |
How to find tonight's channel in 30 seconds
- 1
Check the official schedule
Open the Leafs schedule on NHL.com or in the NHL app. Each game lists its broadcasters, for example Sportsnet Ontario, TSN4 or CBC, next to the date and puck-drop time.
- 2
Convert the start time
Most Leafs home games start at 7 p.m. Eastern. That is 5 p.m. in Calgary and Edmonton and 4 p.m. in Vancouver, so a "tonight" game can start before dinner out west.
- 3
Find it in your TV guide
Open the sports or Canada group in your guide. Many players, TiviMate included, can search the listings, so typing "Leafs" jumps straight to the game.
- 4
Favourite the channels
Add Sportsnet Ontario, TSN4 and CBC to your favourites so every game night is one click away for the rest of the season.
If the listings look wrong or empty, our guide to the IPTV TV guide explains how the EPG works and how to fix it.
Why the Leafs game is blacked out where you live
A regional broadcast is licensed only for the team's home territory, which for the Leafs covers much of Ontario. If you live in Vancouver, Halifax or Winnipeg, the regional Sportsnet Ontario or TSN4 feed will not show the game in your area, even if you pay for Sportsnet or TSN. National games, Saturday-night games and the playoffs are not affected.
Fans outside the region have traditionally used an out-of-market package; the top tier of Sportsnet+ has included out-of-market NHL games in recent seasons. Out-of-market packages exclude games on national TV, because those are already available everywhere.
Every way to watch the Leafs in Canada
| Option | What it covers | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Cable or satellite with Sportsnet and TSN | Regional and national games in your region | Households that already pay for TV |
| Sportsnet+ streaming | Sportsnet games; a higher tier adds out-of-market NHL games | Cord-cutters who mainly want Sportsnet |
| TSN streaming (TSN app) | TSN games, including TSN4 regional games in the region | Fans who also follow TSN's other sports |
| CBC Gem | Saturday Hockey Night in Canada games | Free Saturday viewing |
| Prime Video | The Monday-night national package | Existing Prime members |
| IPTV PROS | Sportsnet, TSN, CBC and Citytv in one app with a guide, from $6.58/month | Every game in one place, on any device |
Each official service covers only part of the season, which is why many fans end up stacking two or three subscriptions. An IPTV subscription puts the same channels in a single guide, which is simpler on game night. If you go that route, read whether IPTV is legal in Canada first so you know what to look for in a provider.

FAQ
What channel is the Leafs game on tonight?+
It depends on the game. Regional games are mostly on Sportsnet Ontario or TSN4, national games on Sportsnet's national channels, Saturday games on Hockey Night in Canada (CBC, Sportsnet and Citytv), and some Monday games stream on Prime Video. The Leafs' schedule on NHL.com lists the broadcaster for every game.
Is the Leafs game on TSN or Sportsnet?+
Both carry Leafs games. Regional games have been split between Sportsnet Ontario and TSN4, and national games air on Sportsnet. Check the specific game, because the split changes through the season.
Why is the Leafs game blacked out in my area?+
Regional games are licensed only for the Leafs' home territory, so outside it the regional Sportsnet Ontario or TSN4 feed won't show the game. National games, Saturday Hockey Night in Canada and the playoffs are not blacked out.
Can I watch the Leafs on CBC for free?+
Saturday games on Hockey Night in Canada air on CBC over the air and stream on CBC Gem, so those are free. Other games are on Sportsnet, TSN or Prime Video, which need a subscription.
What time do Leafs games start?+
Most home games start at 7 p.m. Eastern, which is 5 p.m. in Calgary and Edmonton and 4 p.m. in Vancouver. Weekend and road games vary, so check the schedule for the exact puck drop.
Can I watch the Leafs game on my phone?+
Yes. With IPTV PROS the same login works on your phone, tablet, computer and TV, on Wi-Fi or mobile data. Official apps such as Sportsnet+ and the TSN app also stream on phones within their own coverage rules.
